INSURANCE INFORMATION

Understanding Your Insurance Coverage

Our practice participates in many insurance plans. Because benefits and coverage requirements vary, we encourage patients to verify their individual insurance information before receiving care.

Insurance Plan Participation

Lakeland Foot & Ankle participates in many insurance plans. You can contact our office for current participation information and confirm network status directly with your insurance company.

Know Your Plan Requirements

Each insurance plan has its own requirements, coverage limitations, and exclusions. Patients are responsible for understanding and meeting the requirements of their individual plans.

Copays & Deductibles

Many insurance plans require a copay, which is the patient's share of the cost of care. Medicare and some other plans may also require deductibles before certain benefits apply.

Non-Covered Services

Insurance plans and Medicare may exclude certain routine checkups, screening laboratory studies, or services that do not meet the plan's coverage requirements. Confirm benefits with your insurer.

PAYMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

What to Know Before Your Visit

Insurance coverage does not always mean that every service is paid in full. Understanding your expected out-of-pocket expenses can help prevent confusion at checkout.

01

Verify Your Benefits

Contact your insurance provider to confirm plan participation, benefits, limitations, and any requirements that apply to podiatric care.

02

Understand Your Copay

Your insurance plan may require a copayment for office visits or other covered services. The amount depends on your specific policy.

03

Review Deductibles and Exclusions

Deductibles and non-covered charges are the patient's responsibility. Some routine or screening services may not be covered by insurance.

04

Be Prepared for Payment

Copays, deductibles, and non-covered charges are payable at the time services are rendered.

HELPFUL COVERAGE INFORMATION

Important Details About Insurance & Payment

A few common insurance terms can help explain why patients may receive bills even when they have active health insurance.

Covered Services

A covered service is one included under the terms of your insurance policy. Coverage may depend on medical necessity, plan requirements, deductibles, and other conditions.

Coverage Exclusions

Some policies exclude specific types of care. The practice's existing payment policy identifies routine checkups and screening laboratory studies as examples that may not be covered.

Payment at the Time of Service

Copayments, deductibles, and non-covered charges must be paid when services are provided, in accordance with the practice's payment policy.

AUTO ACCIDENT INSURANCE

PIP Auto Insurance & Foot and Ankle Injuries

Injured your foot or ankle in a car accident? Lakeland Foot & Ankle accepts Personal Injury Protection (PIP) auto insurance for eligible accident-related care. Dr. William S. Wong, DPM, provides podiatric evaluations and treatment for foot and ankle conditions that may result from motor vehicle accidents.

Understanding Florida PIP Coverage

Personal Injury Protection, commonly called PIP, is a type of auto insurance coverage included in qualifying Florida automobile insurance policies. Depending on eligibility, policy terms, and applicable Florida law, PIP may help cover qualifying medical expenses following a motor vehicle accident.

Foot and ankle injuries after an accident may include sprains, fractures, soft tissue injuries, swelling, and persistent pain. Even symptoms that initially seem minor may benefit from professional evaluation. Dr. Wong can assess foot and ankle concerns and discuss appropriate treatment options based on your individual condition.

Florida PIP benefits have specific requirements and time limitations. In general, an injured person must receive initial medical services and care within 14 days of the accident to qualify for PIP medical benefits. Available benefits depend on applicable law, medical circumstances, and individual coverage requirements.

Using PIP at Lakeland Foot & Ankle

If you are seeking podiatric care after a motor vehicle accident, contact our office and let our staff know that your visit may involve an auto insurance claim. Please have your insurance information and accident details available when you call.

Our staff can discuss the information needed for your visit and help you understand the practice's billing procedures. Acceptance of PIP does not guarantee payment, and benefits remain subject to eligibility, coverage limits, documentation, and applicable policy requirements.
